De Zerbi is an Italian professional football manager and former player who is currently the head coach of Serie A club Sassuolo. He was born on the 6th of June 1979 in Barcellona Pozzo di Gotto, Italy.
De Zerbi began his playing career as a midfielder for clubs like Messina, Foggia, and Avellin before retiring in 2008. Shortly after, he began his coaching career working as an assistant coach for various Italian clubs.
In 2016, de Zerbi was appointed as the head coach of Foggia and led them to promotion from Lega Pro to Serie B. He then moved to Benevento in 2017, where he led the team to promotion to Serie A for the first time in their history.
In June 2018, de Zerbi was appointed as the head coach of Sassuolo. He has since become known for his attacking style of play and for promoting young players. Under his leadership, Sassuolo has become one of the most entertaining and dynamic teams in Serie A.
